Attendees:
Andrew was clear: “175th is 175th – and currently one of the only viable N-S corridors”. And there will be no real relief in the short-term.
And we (Save175th Neighborhood Association) were very clear: we are not seeking extreme measures. Please do not widen this country road. Do not invest in straightening “the kink.” We see this road everyday and know it to be infeasible to create anything that can handle the projected 2035 traffic volumes due to the topography of the mountain.” We do want to partner in short term safety solutions as well as long term solution.
As mentioned, it is quite difficult to keep up-to-date with all the happenings relative to our County. Its very dynamic and there are many meetings and publications. I do subscribe to many online documents and that’s why we filter so much and post on our website to help our citizens plow through the volumes to get to the most relevant information – and its still overwhelming. We will still commit to send representatives to as many meetings as possible and use our organization to provide accurate unbiased information.
Some of the meeting outcomes:
1) Fran asked Dyami to provide her with the corrections to the following statement so we may post it correctly on our website:
Straightening the "kink" was adopted as part of Washington County's Transportation Plan in 2002. The South Cooper Mountain Annexation Area Funding Plan identified the need to "straighten the kink" in the next 0-10 year timeframe; E-W/N alternative (Tile Flat/ Grabhorn) alternative (Project 13) in next 10-20 years
Fran apologizes for the error that she published in prior documents.
2) Dyami to provide Fran with timetable of Washington County Transportation Planning projects relevant to 175th for posting on the SAVE175th website; Save175th team will keep our followers updated.
3) Washington County Transportation Study will begin in the January 2015 timeframe. Per Dyami: The "study" at countywide transportation issues that are beyond the usual 25 year time horizon associated with our Transportation System Plan. Based on comments we've heard from you and others the study will likely include an evaluation of N-S mobility around Cooper Mountain.” At this meeting, we agreed that where citizen involvement is included, Sam Louke, would be the appropriate representative from our group.
4) The list of Short-term projects that Dyami had proposed with our group was reviewed and agreed will be reviewed by County engineers. Save175th will partner in those projects as much as requested by Dyami – we look forward to this.
